# Configure checkout

> Choose the customer fields, address requirements, order code, and instructions used at checkout.

Open **Settings → Checkout**. Review each section and save your changes before testing a shopper checkout.

## Customer information

Choose whether checkout collects a customer email, requires a last name, and lets returning customers securely reuse a previously entered address. Require only the information your team actually needs to fulfill an order. If you turn on email collection, test a receipt or notification flow with a real address you control.

## Address form

Set the **default country** and choose whether the **postcode field** is optional, required, or hidden. The form also has an option for a recipient whose name and phone differ from the purchaser. Test both pickup and delivery paths after changing address fields so they do not ask for irrelevant information.

## Order code and instructions

Set the order-code prefix and its position using the controls shown in **Order code**. Check the sample number before saving; changing its display format can affect how staff and customers refer to an order. Enable **Instructions for your store** when you want shoppers to add preparation notes, and **Delivery instructions** when you want delivery-specific notes.

After saving, place a test order through the storefront and confirm the customer fields, order number, and notes appear as expected in **Orders**.
