# Set up the POS device and printer

> Review local device settings, receipt printing, staff PIN, and the customer display.

Merchant-wide POS rules are set under **In-store POS → Overview** in the dashboard. The POS app also has settings for the device currently in use. Open **Settings** inside POS to review the printer and local options shown there.

If you print receipts, select and test the printer in the POS printer settings before a busy shift. Confirm paper size, connectivity, and the printed store and tax information against **Settings → Receipts** in the dashboard. The POS receipt preview reflects the merchant-wide content controls, while printer pairing and availability depend on the device.

A staff member can change their POS PIN through the PIN change action in POS. If they forget it, the reset process may require a manager, depending on the store's **PIN & security** settings. Lock or sign out of a shared till when handing it to another cashier. Check the **Customer view** from the cart when you want a customer-facing display of the current sale.

For a lost or retired device, use **In-store POS → Devices** in the dashboard to sign it out. Reconnect and clear pending sync before routine sign-out on a device that has worked offline.
